Happy New Year!

Today is January 22, 2023. It marks the beginning of the Lunar New Year, also known as the Chinese New Year.
🎊 Happy New Year! 🎊

This post is going to be a bit longer than usual. Between the “updates/improvements?” πŸ€• to the blog website & my phone still acting up occasionally, I didn’t get my Christmas or New Year posts out. Several people have reached out to me, concerned because I’ve been “missing”. Thank you! πŸ€—

Maddie & I are fine. 😍

I’m using the “better late than never” theory & combining it all here, so here goes!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! Maddie & I are safely tucked away, awaiting my fast approaching February cataract surgeries. My vision is really bad now, so I’m definitely looking πŸ‘πŸ‘ forward to it!

😎

As a result of my poor vision, we haven’t been out & about much, but I decided to do a quick trip to Wells Harbor, Maine. I’d seen some photos of the lobster buoy tree there & I wanted to see it for myself. I’m sure it’s even more festive all lit up at night, but I’m not driving at night now. We visited it on a gloomy day, so I’m still happy with my photo!
The tree was really fun to see, but the next day, the coast of Maine received some serious, damaging WIND & rain. I wanted to see if it survived, so I drove back over on Christmas Day. A lot of roads had been closed, due to flooding, but they were reopened by then.

I was thrilled to see that the tree had survived!

These are a few photos from the Wells & Kennebunk police & fire department FB pages. It was an incredibly powerful storm & it caused a lot of damage. πŸ₯Ί
I decided to decorate our “home away from home” for Christmas. It’s been awhile since I’ve done any decorating & I had fun with it! I bought a few decorations at a $ store, so it was Christmas decorating on a tiny budget. πŸ’ This is the 14th Christmas that Maddie & I have celebrated together & I love this black dog theme❣ The ornament was given to me by a very dear friend & I love it! πŸ’ It’s even more special to me because the sale of every ornament represents a tree being planted by the National Forest Foundation! πŸŽ„
Our first Christmas together in 2009. Maddie was 2 years old.

Christmas 2022 – Maddie @ 15❣
I need to take some better photos of her in the snow!
On nice days, we’ve been walking as much as possible.
This was a beautiful day! ❀
To my family & friends: I can cook! 🀫
Shhhh!!! Please don’t tell anyone. It will ruin my reputation! 😁
This was my Christmas Eve dinner. It was too cold to go outside much, so in between watching Christmas movies all day, I cooked!
It was chicken cordon bleu (store-bought frozen) & I made a honey mustard, cherry jam & dried cranberry glaze for it. Side dishes included: sweet potato w/brown sugar, dried cranberries & marshmallows, broccoli, savory herb stuffing w/dried cranberries & fresh mandarin oranges & my own version of cranberry-orange relish. (I LOVE cranberries 😁.)
My beverage was orange juice & cranberry juice cocktail.
I was too full to eat the dessert I’d planned, so I doubled up on my Christmas Day desserts!
It’s your choice, so I hope you enjoy the ride! πŸ’

My wishes for 2023 are simple.
I’m wishing for all of us to experience a year filled with love & laughter, peace, hope, kindness & good health.
I truly hope wishes can come true…
Happy New Year

Published by Where's Wendy? Livin' in the Edge!

On May 2, 2021, I departed from Massachusetts in my 2017 Ford Edge (Breezy Blue) with my 13.5 year young pup, Maddie, to fulfill a lifelong dream of a road trip across America. Our departure was delayed by a month, but we're making up for lost time now! My goal is to be out and about for a year.

  1. Dear Wendy, HAppy New Year! Great post especially thee parts about moving forward. We moved north (forward ) from Fl to Elkhart to drop off our beloved RV to have some needed repairs-then headed to MN. Too much work to drop it off, pick it up, go south, only to return north in March for medical appointments. I have had a string of illnesses and am glad to be in Mn to be be cared for here. Recovering from Covid in November, cellulitis of my toe in December followed by a raging sinus infection in January.. Ugh!! I am happy to hear you can finally get your cataract surgery soon. My friend is having hers this week. Love the pictures of Maddie over the years and you too! What a great picture of you!! Missing you and hope our paths will cross again- I am ceratin they will!! Love, Jane and Tim, Sophie too!

    1. Thanks, Wendy! 😊 Considering I only use my cellphone, I’m really pleased with my photos! I’m sure I could get some amazing photos with a real camera, but I’m happy with my cellphone results.
