The humidity…not so much…
Greetings from π Massachusetts!
I hope wherever you are today, you’re able to get some relief from this nationwide heatwave. Please stay safe. Keep hydrated!
I’ve had several people reach out to me, concerned about us during this heatwave. Thank you for checking in on us. π
Maddie & I are fine! π
We’ve still been camping, but I’ve got several wonderful updates to share with you.
I’m still counting the days of our roadtrip because we’re still living our nomadic journey…
Today is Day #447! π
First, I started a part-time job a month ago & Maddie goes to work with me every dayβ£Friends of mine own a very successful, local business & offered me a job, even before we left on our roadtrip. I thought about it while we were traveling, but I really didn’t want to return to Massachusetts & settle down here again. π I loved growing up here, but I’ve ALWAYS HATED the winters. Having been far away from last year’s winter here, I’ve decided to enjoy future winters…someplace else! π€πΌ

When my finances started to diminish & I decided it was necessary to stop traveling (for now), I began to seriously consider the opportunity to work. When I met with T & D, they assured me that Maddie was welcome to hang out in the office, while I’m working! Done deal! π I’m working M-F, 10-2 & I love it! There’s A LOT to learn, but I’m making progress. Maddie LOVES to go there & is happy to sleep in her own little office all day! I’m very grateful to be working in a really nice work environment, with Maddie sleeping peacefully nearby. I was honest from the beginning that I’m hoping to be headed out again before the first β fall, but for now, it’s perfect.
Thank you, T & D… π€πΎπ€πΎπ€
Secondly, Maddie & I are continuing to camp out in the state forest! State park regulations only allow 14 days of camping in any one campground, between Memorial Day & Labor Day. Unfortunately, we used up the 14 days, while I was still considering our next moves. π
I made friends with K, an awesome member of the campground staff & she mentioned us to the Park Superintendent, S. He offered to override the 14 day restriction & let us camp there, from Sunday afternoon to Friday morning! The campground is always full on the weekends, but very quiet during the week. It’s been great & I truly appreciate the kindness of K, S & the staff who make me/us feel safe there. π€

It’s less than 9 miles to work… π
Our commute is about to increase to 22 miles. π
With no other campgrounds within a reasonable area, we needed someplace to hang out on the weekends. A dear friend of mine invited us to her home. The 4th of July weekend was our first visit. Maddie & her pups instantly became best friends. β€

W had been trying to find someone to care for her 3 beloved Scottie dogs & 2 house rabbits, so she can attend 3 separate functions, within the next few months. After spending the first weekend with W & her furry companions, she decided her search was over! As of early August, Maddie & I will be staying with them for the next few months. It’s a perfect solutionβ£ W can relax & enjoy her trips, knowing that I’ll take excellent care of all of them. As much as I’ve loved camping, I’m looking forward to a solid roof over our heads, a nice hot shower, air conditioning, refrigeration & other “luxuries” that we often take for granted. We’re all thoroughly enjoying each other’s company & did I mention that W is a really good cook? π

The fully enclosed backyard is HUGE & Maddie is loving the space to run around with her new buddies. “Our” room is downstairs & has it’s own doggie door. She started using it immediately, so I won’t have to get up to let her out at her usual 3am awakening. Win/win! ππΌππΌ
I guess this is it for now, but I want you to know that I haven’t lost my Wanderlust!
I’m just “adulting” for awhile. π

Wow Wendy! So many changes! Great news about the part-time job, and your pet sitting opportunity!!
Maddie looks very happy and content!! (:
We have some exciting news! Jillian and her husband Josh welcomed baby Alice Elizabeth on the 18th! Andrew is now a big brother!! (:
Wendy, do you have an address where I can send you a card? You can send me an instant message if that’s better for you!
Have a wonderful day Wendy, and please keep cool, and hydrate!! (: (:

Hi Karenβ£I’m sorry for my delayed response again. For some reason, I’m still not receiving timely notifications for new comments. π€
Congratulations on your new granddaughter! I love her name & I’m sure her great-grandmother, Alice, is smiling & bursting with pride! π
I’ll text you an address to use… π€
Maddie I are doing great, but we’d both be happier with lower humidity! π³ The bonus of being at work is the air conditioning! π
Thanks for checking in with me/usβ£
Love, Wendy & Maddie π€πΎππΎπ€

Hi Wendy, I am so happy for the update, and glad to know the karma connection is alive and well in the world! What a great opportunity! So happy you have found a solution for what sounds like a lovely place to stay when you arenβt exploring! What a smart girl that Maddie is! Her own dog door sounds amazing! Uninterrupted sleep for you is a huge bonus too! I am sure that having income coming in is also nice. Love those hours too! I am totally with you in the humidity issue- we are in central MN and the humidity is oppressive at times. Even last night when the temperature was cool, it was so damp! We are visiting Timβs brother and his wife who are here for a month. They live in FL, but she is from here and her delight mother is still here. We leave tomorrow for Sioux Falls, SD with s stop in Cottonwood, MN to visit my relatives ( parents, grandparents , aunt, uncles, cousin) graves. We will moochdock at my cousins outside of Sioux Falls for 3 nights, then on to Thompson Lake recreation area where our friends we met in Silver City are camp hosting. Then on to The Denver area for a nephewβs wedding reception, and visits with relatives. We are up in the air for the remainder of August, and then mid September will return to MN for my nephewβs wedding, and MD appts. We plan to return to Quartzite for the Solar install in October. We may try FL this winter, but fuel and campsite prices are so high we arenβt sure! We will cross paths again soon I hope!! Miss you dear lady and Maddie too! Hugs! Jane and Tim
