Even before we arrived in Quartzsite, I knew there was a long, interesting history of camels here. I’ve now learned some of the local history & folklore, dating back to the mid-1850’s!
Maddie & I attended the Hi Jolly Daze Parade on 1/8/22, where the unofficial/official theme was pride in America πΊπ², Quartzsite & CAMELSβ£ π«πͺπ«
The top camel was constructed from natural desert materialsβ£ The bottom float was “unusual” & after the parade, I saw it speeding down the street!A Sheriff’s truck led the parade & a fire truck & other emergency vehicles closed it out. Quartzsite has an older population, both as residents & visitors, so there were very few children in attendance at the parade.πͺβ€π«β€πͺβ€π«β€πͺβ€π«β€πͺβ€π«β€
On May 2, 2021, I departed from Massachusetts in my 2017 Ford Edge (Breezy Blue) with my 13.5 year young pup, Maddie, to fulfill a lifelong dream of a road trip across America. Our departure was delayed by a month, but we're making up for lost time now! My goal is to be out and about for a year.
